New York:A suspicious package led to temporary road closures in Midtown Manhattan on Tuesday as world leaders gathered for the UN General Assembly General Debate.

According to Anadolu Agency, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) cleared the package and determined it was not suspicious after an emergency response in the area.

Initially, law enforcement sealed off several blocks from 42nd Street to 44th Street between 2nd Avenue and Lexington Avenue, advising motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area. Even after the item was deemed safe, 43rd Street between 3rd Avenue and Lexington Avenue remained closed.

This security incident occurred just blocks from the UN Headquarters, where heads of state and government were meeting for the start of the 81st General Debate under heightened security across the city.
