New York:Colombian Vice President Jose Manuel Restrepo has urged the international community to enhance cooperation in combating drug trafficking, describing it as a transnational issue.

According to Anadolu Agency, Restrepo addressed the UN General Assembly, emphasizing that although illicit drugs are produced in Colombia, their impact extends globally, as they are part of a transnational enterprise. He expressed Colombia's readiness to tackle the issue but highlighted the need for collective international responsibility in addressing criminal networks involved in drug trafficking.

Restrepo also advocated for a unified international definition of terrorism that aligns with international law. He underscored Colombia's commitment to confronting terrorist groups that engage in acts such as killing, kidnapping, and recruiting minors, all while operating within the framework of the Constitution and the law.

Colombia, a significant point of origin for cocaine shipments, faces challenges from armed groups and criminal networks linked to drug trafficking. Restrepo called for the United Nations to focus less on document production and more on achieving tangible results through international cooperation, urging concrete action to address these global challenges.
