Riyadh:The commander of the Saudi-led coalition's Joint Forces, Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, met with Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member Tareq Saleh to discuss enhancing the coordination and readiness of Yemeni forces on various fronts.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting took place at the Joint Forces Command headquarters in Riyadh. Discussions focused on the developments in Yemen and strategies to support the readiness of Yemeni forces to restore the state and its institutions.

Lt. Gen. Al-Salman commended Saleh for his role in the Presidential Leadership Council and his leadership of the National Resistance Forces. He acknowledged the sacrifices of personnel in efforts to re-establish state authority and end the coup.

Saleh expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Joint Forces Command to the Yemeni military and National Resistance Forces. He emphasized the need to unify ranks, rehabilitate military forces, and strengthen readiness, coordination, and integration among forces for future phases.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining unity, coordinating efforts, and raising combat readiness to restore state institutions and ensure security and stability in Yemen.

This meeting occurs amid renewed fighting between Yemeni government forces and the Houthis across several fronts. The conflict in Yemen began when the Houthi group seized the capital, Sanaa, in 2014, prompting a Saudi-led coalition intervention in support of the recognized government in 2015. Recent developments include the Houthis declaring a maritime blockade on Riyadh and claiming advances along the Red Sea Coast and Bab el-Mandab Strait, as well as targeting Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure.
