New York:Belarus has expressed its willingness to mediate negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine, according to Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Ryzhenkov emphasized that a lasting resolution requires addressing the underlying causes of the war.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ryzhenkov highlighted the necessity of tackling issues such as Ukraine's potential NATO membership and the unfulfilled Minsk agreements. He claimed that the agreements had been undermined to allow Ukraine time to rearm.

Ryzhenkov called for prompt and genuine negotiations to achieve enduring peace, while criticizing ongoing Western military support to Ukraine. He also advocated for reforms within the United Nations, particularly in expanding the Security Council to include greater representation from the Global South, insisting that the voices of the global majority need to be heard in the council.

He further stated that Belarus views the UN as the primary forum for addressing global issues but stressed the need for the organization to evolve with the current international landscape. Additionally, Ryzhenkov proposed a wider Eurasian security framework and expressed Minsk's readiness to engage in dialogue with Western nations on equal terms, rejecting any forms of pressure or sanctions.
