Israeli Actions Result in Significant Losses for Palestinian Journalists

Gaza:The Israeli army has been responsible for the deaths of 262 Palestinian journalists and injuries to 433 others since its military offensive in the Gaza Strip began in 2023, according to Gaza's Government Media Office.

According to Anadolu Agency, the media office highlighted the severe targeting and systematic destruction faced by Palestinian journalists, especially in Gaza, describing it as unprecedented in modern history. This statement was made in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists.

Among the journalists killed, 26 were women. Additionally, Israeli forces have arrested 50 journalists and media workers since the conflict started, with 23 still detained under harsh conditions. The media sector has suffered losses exceeding $800 million.

The statement detailed the destruction or partial damage to 12 print media offices, 23 digital media outlets, 12 local radio stations, 16 TV and satellite channels, 27 printing presses, and offices of five press freedom organizations. The media office urged the international community, the UN, the International Federation of Journalists, and the Federation of Arab Journalists to take immediate action to protect Palestinian journalists legally and physically.

The ongoing war, since October 2023, has resulted in nearly 74,000 deaths and approximately 175,000 injuries, with 90% of civilian infrastructure severely damaged. Despite a ceasefire that began on October 10, 2025, Israeli airstrikes and gunfire persist, leading to 1,408 Palestinian deaths and 4,916 injuries, including those of journalists.
