Hebron:Israeli occupiers have begun establishing a new settlement outpost near Adh Dhahiriya, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, as reported by a Palestinian rights group.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Al-Baidar Organization stated that this development is part of ongoing illegal settlement expansion in the region. The organization warned that the new outpost poses a threat to Palestinian land and could impede residents' movement and access to their property.
The rights group highlighted that occupiers also entered the vicinity of Palestinian resident Khairi Mohammed Abu Tuhfa's home in Khallat al-Hummus, located in the Masafer Yatta area south of Hebron, causing fear among his family members.
In another report, the group noted that a settlement outpost established two months ago near the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, has rapidly developed into an inhabited site. The organization warned that this outpost might expand further onto Palestinian land, as rapid construction and preparations continue.
The Al-Baidar Organization also mentioned that occupiers residing at this site have shown extremist behavior towards Palestinians, with the construction pace creating new conditions on the ground threatening residents' land and property.
In August, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee called out Israelis involved in violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank as "terrorists," cautioning that these actions are severely harming Israel's image.
Palestinian figures indicate that about 750,000 occupiers inhabit 156 illegal settlements and 360 outposts across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The Palestinian government's Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 628 occupier attacks in August.
Separately, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces raided the village of Yabrud, northeast of Ramallah, as occupiers stormed a sheep farm, blocking the passage of several Palestinian vehicles. Additionally, in the northern West Bank, Israeli forces bulldozed land and uprooted dozens of olive trees near the village of Haddad in the Jenin governorate.
The frequency of Israeli military and occupier attacks in the West Bank has increased since the Gaza war began in October 2023, with official Palestinian figures reporting at least 1,206 Palestinians killed, including 254 children, around 13,350 wounded, and more than 24,600 arrested during this time.
The United Nations has consistently affirmed that Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories are illegal under international law, cautioning that they jeopardize the prospects for a two-state solution.
