Israeli Incursions at Al-Aqsa During Jewish Holiday Season

Jerusalem:Over 11,400 Israeli individuals entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem during the Jewish holiday season, spanning from September 12 to October 1, according to Palestinian authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that these incursions occurred throughout the holiday period, with the largest numbers recorded during specific days. On September 13, 593 individuals entered the compound after it had been closed the previous day. Notably, 1,678 people entered on September 20 and 21, and 9,138 during the first five days of Sukkot, from September 27 to October 1.

The incursions were marked by widespread religious rituals involving prominent Israeli figures, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Zehut party leader Moshe Feiglin, and Rabbi Yehuda Glick. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also noted to have participated in religious activities at the Al-Buraq Wall.

Activities within the Al-Aqsa compound included public prayers, singing, and other religious expressions. Participants carried religious items and wore clothing with images and slogans linked to the 'Temple.'

Historically, Al-Aqsa Mosque is designated as a Muslim place of worship, managed by the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf under Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf. Despite Palestinian and Jordanian objections, since 2003, Israeli police have facilitated entry through the Mughrabi Gate under their protection.
