Ankara:Benguet The death of at least seven miners in a mining tunnel in Benguet on the northern island of Luzon is believed to have been caused by gas poisoning, according to police reports. The incident occurred earlier this week as investigations into the cause of the tragedy continue.
According to Anadolu Agency, the miners died on Wednesday night, and their bodies were recovered on Thursday, approximately 20 meters from the tunnel entrance. The victims ranged in age from 18 to 62.
Authorities have not yet identified the specific gas involved in the incident or its source. However, the relatives of the victims have expressed their belief that the deaths were accidental.
