Kyiv:Russia has urged foreign citizens and diplomats in Kyiv to leave the Ukrainian capital and advised against traveling to Ukraine. Residents have been cautioned to avoid military and administrative facilities.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Moscow would continue sustained strikes on military targets in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. This action is in response to what it described as 'terrorist actions' by Ukrainian forces against Russia's civilian population and infrastructure.
The ministry emphasized that foreign citizens, including diplomatic personnel, should heed the warning against staying in or traveling to Ukraine. It stated that the responsibility for any potential adverse consequences lies with those who disregard this warning.
This warning was initially included in a statement on May 25 and communicated through diplomatic notes to foreign partners. It was reiterated during a briefing on May 27 by Mikhail Galuzin, Russia's deputy foreign minister. The ministry highlighted that several Western countries have also advised their citizens against traveling to Ukraine.
Despite these warnings, many embassies remain operational in Kyiv, and foreign officials continue to visit Ukraine. The ministry noted that ignoring these advisories could lead to 'mortal danger' due to ongoing military operations. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will persist with massive retaliatory strikes as the conflict, now over four years old, continues.
