Israeli Minister Claims Entire West Bank Belongs to Israel and Threatens Action Against Palestinian Authority

Jerusalem:Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has asserted that the entire West Bank belongs to Israel, challenging the arrangements established under the Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ben-Gvir stated in an interview with Israel's Channel 14 that there is no distinction between Areas A, B, and C of the West Bank. The Oslo II Accord of 1995 had divided the West Bank into these areas, with varying degrees of Palestinian and Israeli control.

Ben-Gvir threatened to dismantle the Palestinian Authority and suggested that if he becomes the defense minister, he would facilitate the displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. He claimed that a significant percentage of Palestinians wish to emigrate, despite contrary reports, and expressed his intention to manage this process actively.

Responding to questions about increasing Israeli forces in the West Bank and Gaza, Ben-Gvir proposed easing restrictions on soldiers, suggesting that increased force would reduce the need for additional manpower. He criticized current engagement rules, arguing that police regulations are more lenient than those of the military.

His remarks coincide with the campaigning for Israel's upcoming Knesset election on October 27, where opinion polls suggest a decline in support for the governing coalition. Ben-Gvir has intensified his rhetoric against Palestinians amid growing political competition, including making visits to Al-Aqsa Mosque and conducting rituals at the Western Wall in occupied East Jerusalem.
