Yemeni Army Claims Successful Military Operations Against Houthis

Ankara:The Yemeni army announced that its forces have 'neutralized' 1,747 Houthi members in 1,122 military operations across various fronts in the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the operations, as detailed by military spokesman Majed Abdullah al-Nuzaili, targeted artillery and rocket-launcher positions, defensive fortifications, and command structures among other strategic points of the Houthi forces. These operations were conducted in the provinces of Saada, Al-Jawf, and Taiz, as well as along Yemen's western coast.

The military operations utilized warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles, rocket launchers, and snipers, resulting in the destruction or disabling of 364 military vehicles and transportation assets. Al-Nuzaili emphasized that government forces intend to continue their efforts to reclaim state territory and reinforce national sovereignty.

Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, recently announced comprehensive military operations against the Houthis, directing the armed and security forces to regain control of the territories held by the group.

The conflict in Yemen has persisted since the Houthis captured the capital Sanaa in 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in 2015 supporting the internationally recognized government. The situation has worsened since July, with heightened hostilities in September as the Houthis seized the strategic city of Mokha and advanced towards Mayyun Island, threatening the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Houthis have also launched attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting energy sites among other locations.
