Ankara:Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a closed-door meeting with the family of Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old Palestinian girl killed during a 2024 Israeli attack. The meeting took place at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, with Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy in attendance.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting occurred as the third anniversary of the Israeli genocide in Gaza approached. This tragic event began on October 7, 2023, and has resulted in significant casualties and damage.

Hind Rajab was killed on January 29, 2024, in Gaza City, along with six of her family members, when their vehicle was targeted by Israeli military fire. The violence has persisted, with Israel reported to be violating a ceasefire that commenced on October 10, 2025. As of Monday, 1,460 Palestinians have been killed and 5,116 injured, as per Gaza's Health Ministry.

Since the onset of the genocide in October 2023, over 74,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, more than 175,000 have been injured, and around 90% of Gaza's infrastructure has been devastated.
