Sudan’s Military Campaign Against RSF to Continue Until Complete Retake, Says Burhan

Merowe:Sudanese Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has committed to persisting in the military campaign against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) until the entire country is retaken.

According to Anadolu Agency, Burhan made these remarks during a public gathering in Village 5 in the Merowe locality in Northern State. He emphasized the armed forces' determination to continue with the military strategy until the RSF is completely cleared from Sudan.

Burhan reiterated the government's stance of rejecting negotiations with the RSF, asserting that efforts will persist to restore security, stability, and preserve the unity of Sudan. The government has consistently opposed any political agreement that equates the sovereign state with the RSF.

The government's conditions for any ceasefire or dialogue include the withdrawal of RSF from cities and public institutions, disarmament, regrouping in designated camps, and accountability for those accused of violations.

Since April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in conflict between the army and the RSF, stemming from a dispute over the integration of the paramilitary force into the military. This conflict has led to famine conditions, the deaths of tens of thousands, and the displacement of 13 million people, resulting in one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises.
