Israeli Military Operations in Syria Documented by Human Rights Group

Ankara:The Syrian Network for Human Rights has documented significant Israeli military activity in Syria. Between December 8, 2024, and October 6, 2026, there were at least 453 ground incursions by Israeli forces, resulting in the deaths of at least 69 people.

According to Anadolu Agency, The report highlights that these incursions were primarily focused on the southern provinces of Quneitra and Daraa, with some activity also noted in the Damascus countryside. Additionally, the network reported at least 162 arbitrary detentions by Israeli forces, with 127 detainees eventually released while the fate of 35 remains unknown.

Israeli forces have reportedly demolished at least 15 civilian homes in the Hamidiya village, located in the Quneitra countryside. Further, extensive land-leveling operations occurred in the Jabata al-Khashab Nature Reserve in northern Quneitra in October 2025. In late January, Israeli troops sprayed an unidentified substance on grazing lands in Quneitra.

The report also notes that Israeli forces resumed land-leveling operations on October 4 near Al-Asha village and Al-Rafid town. In terms of air activity, hundreds of Israeli airstrikes have been recorded across several Syrian provinces, including Damascus, Hama, Latakia, Homs, Tartus, Sweida, and Idlib, although precise tolls were not provided.

Israeli military presence has continued in the buffer zone and surrounding areas in southern Syria since December 2024. The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force previously noted in December 2024 that Israeli forces entered the buffer zone, in violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement. A UN report from September 2025 confirmed this ongoing presence and highlighted efforts to consolidate control in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. The 1974 agreement mandates a separation zone monitored by the UN, with Damascus calling for Israeli withdrawal and adherence to the agreement terms.
