Beirut:The Lebanese army has announced the receipt of a shipment of ammunition from France, marking a continuation of military cooperation between the two nations aimed at bolstering Lebanon's defense capabilities.
According to Anadolu Agency, the ammunition arrived at the Port of Beirut as a donation from French authorities. This assistance is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Lebanese and French armed forces.
The Lebanese army highlighted that this donation is intended to support its military operations amidst the various challenges the country faces. However, details regarding the type, quantity, or value of the ammunition were not disclosed.
In related developments, the Lebanese army also received aid from the European Union, consisting of engineering and transport vehicles, electricity generators, and other equipment. This support is designed to enhance the logistical capabilities of army units as they conduct missions throughout Lebanon.
Furthermore, in late September, the Lebanese army received 47 Humvee military vehicles and five trucks through U.S. military assistance programs. These deliveries occur in the context of ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which continue to create significant security and military challenges for the Lebanese forces.
Despite a US-sponsored framework agreement signed on June 26, which outlines a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of Lebanese forces in vacated areas, Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon persist. Israeli forces maintain control over certain regions, including long-occupied territories and areas seized during recent military operations.
