Jakarta:Blue Nile At least 31 civilians lost their lives and 19 others sustained injuries in a drone strike conducted by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) at a displacement camp in southeastern Sudan's Blue Nile state, as reported by a local medical group.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Sudan Doctors Network stated that the attack took place in the Abu Shandi area of Wad Al-Mahi locality, targeting a group of displaced individuals. The group confirmed that among the deceased were four children, while the injured included six children and eight women.
The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the assault, emphasizing that the victims were unarmed civilians who had sought refuge from ongoing conflict. The network labeled the strike a war crime and a breach of international humanitarian law, placing responsibility on the RSF.
They urged the United Nations, humanitarian agencies, and international human rights organizations to denounce the attack and take measures to safeguard civilians.
Currently, there has been no response from the RSF regarding these allegations.
The Blue Nile state has experienced escalating violence recently, with the RSF and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) executing attacks in several locations. Earlier, on October 3, Sudanese authorities accused the RSF of launching drone strikes on the governor's residence and civilian areas in Damazin, the state's capital.
Sudan has been embroiled in conflict between the army and the RSF since April 2023, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and approximately 13 million people displaced, according to estimates by the UN and international bodies.
