Yemeni Forces Claim Destruction of Houthi Vehicles in Taiz

Taiz:Yemen's government-aligned forces reported the destruction of five armored military vehicles belonging to the Houthi group during an attempted advance toward Dhubab Airport in the western Taiz province.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Giants Brigades issued a statement on Facebook late Saturday, claiming their forces "destroyed five Houthi armored vehicles, killing those aboard." The operation occurred as the Houthis attempted to advance towards Dhubab Airport on the western coast.

The Giants Brigades also released a video purportedly showing the moment the vehicles were targeted, with flames visible rising from them. The Houthi group has not commented on the statement.

Earlier on Saturday, the Giants Brigades announced they had thwarted a Houthi attack on their positions north of Dhubab Airport, near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, asserting that the Houthis suffered "heavy losses" in personnel and equipment, though no further details were provided.

By Monday, the Giants Brigades claimed control over Dhubab Airport and other strategic positions around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait following clashes with the Houthis. These developments are part of a military escalation that began in July, marking the most extensive fighting since a truce took effect in April 2022.

Yemen has been mired in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, in September 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
