Zelenskyy Criticizes Lack of Warning Before Russian Attack on Kyiv’s Energy Infrastructure

Kyiv:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine received no advance warning from its partners about Russia's recent attack on Kyiv's energy infrastructure. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of an early warning, describing it as "absolutely unjust." Zelenskyy urged the international community, particularly the United States, to acknowledge and speak out against those responsible for the ongoing conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy highlighted that the Darnytsia Combined Heat and Power Plant was struck, and a residential building in the capital suffered damage. Emergency crews were dispatched to handle the situation. He mentioned that Ukraine's detection of the missiles occurred only when they were nearing Kyiv, accusing Russia of preparing additional ballistic missile launches.

Zelenskyy emphasized the need for the United States to recognize the true nature of the situation and the parties responsible for the conflict's continuation. His comments followed statements from US President Donald Trump, who noted that the United States continues to share intelligence with Ukraine and is working with both Kyiv and Moscow to end the war.

Reports from the Financial Times suggested that US officials had considered halting intelligence sharing with Ukraine if Kyiv did not comply with calls to stop targeting Russian energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Trump announced a mutual agreement between Russia and Ukraine for an immediate ceasefire on attacks targeting each other's energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy affirmed Kyiv's readiness to cease strikes on Russian oil refineries if Moscow halted its assaults on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He stressed that any de-escalation must be mutual and secured with guarantees. The Kremlin also stated that it is maintaining contact with Washington regarding the potential energy ceasefire in Ukraine.
