Baku:The Turkish Embassy in Baku has dismissed claims made by some Azerbaijani media outlets that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a "secret meeting" during his recent visit to Azerbaijan.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the embassy issued a statement rejecting a report titled "Behind the Scenes of Hakan Fidan's Meeting at GYF," which was published by several media outlets, including Qafqazinfo. The embassy labeled the report as a part of disinformation efforts aimed at harming relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
The statement clarified that during his visit to Baku, Fidan posed for courtesy photographs with various individuals, including members of a legally recognized organization in Azerbaijan. It categorically denied any secret meetings or directives being issued by the minister.
Further, the embassy refuted claims based on an alleged letter to the Turkish parliament, asserting the letter did not exist. It condemned references to "plans to interfere in internal affairs," "intelligence operations," "coup and chaos plots," and "recruiting agents of influence" as falsehoods meant to damage Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations.
The embassy urged the public in both countries not to believe these baseless allegations. The Qafqazinfo news website had claimed that Fidan visited a foundation in Baku where he allegedly held a secret meeting, but this report has since been removed.
