Manama:Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Bahrain on Saturday to participate in a meeting between Moscow and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Lavrov's visit to the capital, Manama, was announced in a Foreign Ministry statement, accompanied by photos showing his welcome by Bahraini officials.

Lavrov was greeted by his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, and Russian Ambassador to Manama Alexey Skosyrev. The visit is part of preparations for the ninth edition of the Russia-GCC Strategic Dialogue at the foreign ministers level, which last took place in Sochi, Russia, in September 2025.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that the meeting will cover a wide range of international and regional issues, with Lavrov also scheduled to hold additional meetings on the sidelines.
