Vice President Vance Admits to Mistakes in US Approach to Iran War

Washington:US Vice President JD Vance acknowledged significant mistakes and failures in the handling of the Iran war during a CBS News town hall event. The Vice President was addressing rising concerns over the human and economic toll of the conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, Vance's remarks came in response to Joey Amor, whose wife, Master Sgt. Nicole Amor, was among six US Army Reserve soldiers killed by an Iranian strike in Kuwait at the onset of the war in late February. The incident has raised questions about the security measures at the military site, with at least 21 US service members killed and hundreds wounded since the war began.

Joey Amor criticized the Trump administration for the lack of security at the facility, stating that while an Iranian drone was responsible for his wife's death, several mistakes and failures contributed to the tragedy. Vance admitted that there were issues with information not reaching him and pledged to address each failure seriously.

The Vice President also highlighted that the positioning of US troops had exposed weaknesses, acknowledging that some locations were poorly chosen. Vance assured that changes had been made to address these shortcomings and emphasized the threat posed by low-cost drones, indicating that the military had adapted its tactics to better protect its personnel.

In response to questions about the lack of a decisive victory, Vance argued that the US had achieved significant success in some areas, but noted that Iran's actions also influenced the outcome. He defended the administration's strategy, stating that the goal was to secure a firm commitment from Iran not to rebuild its nuclear program.
