Poll Shows Growing American Dissatisfaction with Trump Ahead of Midterm Elections

Accra:Istanbul A recent poll reveals that a growing number of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track, with President Donald Trump's approval rating hitting a low as Republicans face challenges ahead of the November midterm elections.

According to Anadolu Agency, the NBC News poll indicated that 71% of US adults think the country is on the 'wrong track,' the highest figure recorded during Trump's second term. The president's approval rating has dropped to 34%, with 66% disapproving of his performance. Notably, 51% of respondents strongly disapprove of Trump, marking a new high.

Economic dissatisfaction is a significant factor contributing to the public's negative sentiment. The economy was the top concern for 31% of respondents, and 44% reported their financial situation had worsened over the past year. Rising living costs, particularly gasoline prices, are also a concern, with 67% of respondents describing them as a serious problem. Many have adjusted grocery purchases or cut spending to meet essential expenses.

The survey also highlights political challenges for Republicans, as 55% of registered voters preferred Democrats to control Congress, compared to 45% favoring Republicans. This preference signals potential difficulties for the party in power in the upcoming midterm elections.

A majority of respondents, 58%, believe Trump's policies are harming the country, while only 28% think they are beneficial. Trump's lowest approval ratings are for his handling of the cost of living, at 27%, and the war with Iran, at 29%. However, immigration and border security remain his strongest issue, with 43% approval.
