Former Premier League Referee Anthony Taylor Leads Turkey’s Referees Committee

Accra:Former English Premier League referee Anthony Taylor has been appointed as the chairman of the Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) Central Referees' Committee (MHK). This marks the first time a foreign national has held this position.

According to Anadolu Agency, the TFF announced the decision on Tuesday after the federation's executive board approved Taylor's appointment. The board had been assessing vacancies within the committee prior to this decision.

Taylor, who now serves as the federation's director of elite referees, will work alongside new committee members Alan Snoddy, Igor Radojcic, and Baris Simsek. Prior to joining the TFF in August, Taylor retired from professional refereeing following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Recently, the federation revealed that Super Lig referee appointments would be based on Taylor's technical assessments. His extensive experience includes officiating major international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, and the UEFA Champions League. He also refereed the 2023 UEFA Europa League final and the FIFA Club World Cup final.
