New York:Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside The New York Times headquarters on Tuesday to protest the newspaper's coverage of Israel's actions in Gaza and its occupation of Palestinian and Lebanese territories. The protesters accused the publication of bias, chanting "New York Times, you are liar" outside the building entrance.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the demonstration featured signs and banners, including one that read "Consent for genocide manufactured here." Protesters waved Palestinian flags, wore keffiyehs, and distributed leaflets, while a drummer accompanied chants criticizing the newspaper's reporting.
Law enforcement maintained heightened security around the perimeter of the Manhattan building during the protest. Despite the demonstration, The New York Times had not publicly commented on the protest.
The protest is in response to ongoing events, as Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 2023 and continues its occupation of territories in the West Bank. Additionally, in Lebanon, Israel maintains a self-declared 'security zone' in the south, which Lebanon and the UN characterize as an occupation violating the ceasefire framework.
