Paris:Barcelona Barcelona has filed a complaint with UEFA against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) concerning a controversial fan display during a recent Champions League match. The Spanish club alleges that a banner exhibited by PSG supporters incited violence and hatred in sport.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the incident occurred before kickoff at the Parc des Princes, where PSG fans revealed a giant tifo depicting a masked figure in a PSG shirt attacking Barcelona's crest with a blood-covered chainsaw. The display included the phrase "Massacre à la parisienne," which translates to "Parisian-style massacre," and was accompanied by other banners with offensive messages.
Barcelona issued a statement strongly condemning the imagery, describing it as deeply disturbing and claiming that it incited violence and hatred. The club also objected to banners bearing derogatory messages such as "Puta Barca," which they argue violate the principles of respect, fair play, and sportsmanship.
The Spanish club has formally complained to UEFA's match delegate about the tifo and requested the removal of offensive banners during the match. Under UEFA's disciplinary regulations, clubs can be penalized for supporters displaying inappropriate messages, with a standard fine of £10,000 for a first offense.
In the match, PSG emerged victorious, defeating Barcelona 4-2, marking Barcelona's first defeat in all competitions this season.
