Moscow:Russia has firmly rejected accusations made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Moscow's alleged participation in an antisemitic online campaign.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed confusion over what it described as "entirely unsubstantiated accusations." The ministry emphasized that claims of Moscow operating such a campaign are "particularly absurd," given Russia's efforts to foster interethnic peace and harmony, which it says have resulted in negligible antisemitism within the country.
The controversy arose after Israel's i24 News reported Netanyahu's accusation that Russia was "aiding Iran and using artificial intelligence to operate antisemitic bot networks targeting Israel and Jews worldwide." The Russian ministry noted the unfortunate timing of Netanyahu's remarks, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Russia and Israel, and highlighted previous offers from Russia to cooperate on information security, which have gone unanswered.
The ministry further criticized Netanyahu for making "media-driven allegations" ahead of Israel's upcoming legislative election, instead of facilitating expert dialogue on cybersecurity issues. It dismissed the accusations as familiar "fakes," suggesting that the global perception of Israel is shaped by its own government's actions.
