Turkish President Highlights Ongoing Peace Efforts in Global Conflicts

Istanbul:Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has emphasized Türkiye's ongoing commitment to fostering peace across various regions, which includes efforts ranging from mediating Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchanges to addressing conflicts in Africa.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Erdogan delivered a video message to the 9th Istanbul Mediation Conference, where he underscored the potential for diplomacy even in the midst of challenging conflicts.

Erdogan asserted that maintaining an open door to diplomacy requires demonstrating the will, courage, and sincerity necessary to keep dialogue ongoing. Despite the rise in global conflicts and diminishing trust in international institutions, Erdogan reiterated Türkiye's dedication to diplomatic solutions.

Moreover, Erdogan criticized the current structure of the international system, specifically targeting the United Nations Security Council. He argued that it is neither fair nor effective for the will of over 190 countries to be dictated by the decisions of just five nations.

He also addressed the disappointment felt by millions in crisis regions such as Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan towards the UN. Erdogan concluded by reaffirming Türkiye's commitment to mediating fair solutions and taking responsibility for peace efforts globally.
