Kremlin Confirms Departure of First Russian Diesel Tanker Under US Deal

Moscow:The Kremlin announced that the first tanker carrying Russian diesel fuel, as part of a recent agreement with the United States, has set sail for its intended recipients.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed this development during a press briefing, stating that reports from the Ministry of Energy indicated the departure of the tanker. Peskov noted that these shipments are expected to continue regularly.

This announcement follows comments from Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who mentioned that Russia and the US are finalizing contracts for diesel fuel supplies. Novak revealed that the first tanker was scheduled to depart on Thursday, carrying 40,000 tons of diesel for the US, with further shipments planned to meet American demand.

Earlier in the month, US President Donald Trump unveiled a diesel supply agreement after discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Under this agreement, Russia is to supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the US and global markets, with additional deliveries of 500,000 tons in November and another million tons "immediately thereafter." Trump also mentioned the possibility of 3 million tons being delivered soon, contingent on the condition of Russian refineries.

While President Putin highlighted the economic benefits of Russian diesel supplies to global markets, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the arrangement, expressing concerns that easing restrictions on Russian diesel exports could potentially fund Russia's war efforts.
