Russia and Ukraine to Engage in Trilateral Peace Talks with US in November

Abu Dhabi:Moscow Russia and Ukraine announced that trilateral peace talks, which will also involve the United States, are set to occur in the first half of November. The meeting is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. The discussions will focus on ensuring the security of Russia and Ukraine after achieving peace between the two nations.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Peskov emphasized that the topic of security is crucial for a peaceful resolution, asserting that a comprehensive solution cannot be achieved without it. He also mentioned that while the upcoming talks are planned in a trilateral format, the future involvement of European parties in these discussions cannot be ruled out.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had a conversation with US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, agreeing on the trilateral talks at the team level in November. He expressed readiness to meet at any time, highlighting the need to escalate the discussions to the leader level for key issue resolutions. Zelenskyy also noted existing challenges, such as restrictions on Starlink and Starshield and delays in interceptor deliveries, which he described as significant problems.

The announcement of these talks follows a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoys, where Moscow expressed readiness to resume negotiations, emphasizing the importance of establishing a post-war security system for both countries. Previous US-mediated peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine were held earlier this year in Abu Dhabi and Geneva.
