Jerusalem:The Israeli army has raised its alert level to the highest and deployed tens of thousands of troops across various regions in anticipation of potential security threats ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 27. This move comes amid concerns over possible missile launches from Iran or Lebanon, as reported by public broadcaster KAN.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the army's readiness has been elevated along the borders and several key areas including Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank, and surrounding regions of Jerusalem. Despite there being no specific intelligence indicating an imminent threat, the military is preparing for a range of scenarios to thwart any surprise attacks.
Air defense systems are on high alert, making comprehensive preparations for possible missile threats from Iran or Lebanon, although assessments suggest a decrease in the likelihood of such attacks. This heightened state of alert is occurring alongside increasing tensions in the West Bank, following a fatal shooting near Hebron on Friday that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers, with three others injured. The Israeli army reported killing two Palestinians alleged to have executed the attack.
In addition to these measures, the Israeli army plans to conduct extensive exercises in northern and central Israel on Sunday and Monday. These exercises aim to simulate a simultaneous surprise attack across multiple fronts, ensuring readiness for any potential threats.
