Kyiv:Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara announced that restrictions on Starshield connection speeds have been lifted following high-level contacts.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, Khmara informed journalists that Defense Ministry monitoring systems have recorded the restoration of connection speeds after Kyiv had reported restrictions on the military-grade version of SpaceX's Starlink service earlier this month.
Khmara stated that they are recording speeds exceeding 400 km/h, describing the restoration as crucial for Ukraine's military operations and front-line communications. He emphasized that this development is a result of direct dialogue and the firm stance taken by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the highest level.
The Defense Minister highlighted the importance of this outcome for Ukraine's front line, military personnel, drone operations, and logistics and communications. He assured that his ministry continues to monitor the systems' performance and track their metrics.
Previously, Ukrainian authorities had reported restrictions on Starshield speeds for more than a week, which raised concerns about the system's role in the country's defense operations amid Russian airstrikes.
Regarding the slowdown, US President Donald Trump stated he was not aware of who was responsible, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied any US government involvement, noting that "Starlink is a private company" and that the government cannot direct the company's decisions.
