Bolsonaro Slightly Edges Lula in Final Polls Before Brazilian Runoff

Brasilia:On the eve of the Brazilian presidential runoff, Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro holds a narrow one-point lead over President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, with 50.5% to Lula's 49.5%, as indicated by a BTG/Nexus poll.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, a separate CNT/MDA poll published by Brazilian news outlet Poder360 shows Bolsonaro at 50.7% and Lula at 49.3%, with a 1.4-percentage-point difference, which falls within the survey's margin of error.

The CNT/MDA poll was commissioned by the National Transport Confederation and involved interviews with 2,032 voters conducted from October 21 to 23. These polls, reflecting voter intentions ahead of the runoff, should be considered in light of their methodologies and margins of error.

Bolsonaro has received 46.3% of voting intentions compared to Lula's 45%, with 2.9% of voters remaining undecided. In the first round of elections on October 4, Bolsonaro secured 47.03% of valid votes, while Lula garnered 45.16%, as reported by Poder360.

The upcoming runoff is between Lula, who returned to office in 2023, and Bolsonaro, a prominent figure in Brazil's right-wing movement and the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro. Brazil conducts a runoff between the top two candidates if neither secures more than half of the valid votes in the first round.
