Brazilian Presidential Candidates Hold Final Rallies Ahead of Tight Runoff Election

Sao Paulo:Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Senator Flavio Bolsonaro conducted their final campaign rallies on Saturday in anticipation of Sunday's closely contested presidential runoff election.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, a new poll has indicated that the candidates are nearly tied, with Bolsonaro holding 50.7% support compared to Lula's 49.3%.

The final day of campaigning saw both candidates rallying their supporters in major urban areas. Lula's supporters gathered in Sao Paulo around noon for his concluding campaign event, with his arrival anticipated after a rally in Rio de Janeiro. In contrast, Bolsonaro focused his efforts in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood of Rio's southwestern zone.

The runoff election is a significant event as Lula seeks another term after returning to office in 2023, facing competition from Bolsonaro, the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The outcome is being closely observed across Latin America due to Brazil's substantial regional influence and its status as the continent's largest economy.
