Yemeni Army Claims Over 200 Houthis ‘Neutralized’ in Recent Operations

Sanaa:The Yemeni army announced that its forces have 'neutralized' approximately 218 Houthi fighters and field commanders in a series of 753 operations conducted over the past 24 hours. These operations reportedly resulted in the destruction or damage of 78 military vehicles and weapons.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the military operations were part of Operation Dawn of Yemen and targeted forward command centers, fortifications, firing positions, troop concentrations, reinforcements, and supply vehicles. The army stated that these attacks have disrupted Houthi reinforcements heading to front lines, thereby supporting raids and ground assaults by government forces.

The army did not provide a detailed breakdown of the casualties among the 218 individuals it claimed were 'neutralized,' and there was no immediate response from the Houthis regarding these claims. The military emphasized that it is continuing its offensive to weaken the Houthi group's ability to mass forces and regroup, while asserting that its operations are focused on military sites with precautions taken to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen began when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and other provinces in 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government. The Houthis currently control much of northern and western Yemen, including Sanaa, whereas the recognized government and allied forces control Aden and significant areas of southern and eastern Yemen. However, renewed fighting has resulted in shifting front lines, especially along the Red Sea coast, with control of certain areas remaining contested.
