Rouen:An investigation has been initiated in northwestern France concerning a viral video that depicts violence involving far-right activists in the aftermath of nationwide protests held on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Rouen prosecutor's office announced it has opened an investigation into aggravated violence following confrontations in central Rouen. These clashes reportedly involved individuals from both far-right and far-left movements.

A video released by the news outlet Blast shows masked nationalist activists, wearing hoods, assaulting a man on the ground. In the footage, police officers are seen intervening to separate the demonstrators, while participants in the violence retreated, shouting slogans like 'Nationalist Rouen' and 'The streets, France, belong to us.'

The ongoing investigation will enable authorities to scrutinize surveillance footage from the courthouse district area, although no victims have been formally identified as of yet. Furthermore, no complaints have been filed so far, According to report.
