Riyadh:Yemen's Houthi group has announced that it targeted four locations in Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles and a drone. Among the targets were the Defense Ministry building in Riyadh and military aircraft situated at two airports.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree, in a post on US social media platform X, asserted that the group launched a ballistic missile at the Saudi Defense Ministry building in Riyadh. He further claimed that Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia was targeted with a drone.
Additionally, Saree stated that two ballistic missiles were fired at military transport aircraft, with one aimed at Najran Airport and the other at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait. The group also claimed to have thwarted an advance by Saudi-backed forces near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
There has been no immediate response from Saudi officials regarding these claims by the Houthis. Since July, the Houthis have intensified their attacks on Saudi territory, increasing missile and drone launches at civilian airports, oil facilities, and military sites, particularly throughout October. Saudi Arabia has been leading a military coalition supporting Yemen's government against the Houthis since March 2015. The Houthis, accused of receiving support from Iran, have maintained control over the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and other regions since September 2014.
