Taiz:Clashes have resumed between Yemeni government forces and the Houthi group on multiple fronts south of Taiz, as reported by Yemen Today TV.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, fighting has reignited on the Al-Aqroudh and Al-Masrakh fronts, as well as in Al-Rahn village in the Sabir al-Mawadim district. In a related development, operations at Aden International Airport have resumed following recent disruptions.
The airport and its surrounding areas had been targeted by missile attacks subsequent to threats from the Houthi group to strike the facility. On Wednesday, a missile struck Al-Nasr Camp, adjacent to the airport, which houses Yemeni Coast Guard forces and the Interior Ministry headquarters. Eyewitnesses provided this account to Anadolu.
Furthermore, the Yemeni army reported that two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis hit the airport, resulting in civilian injuries and material damage. This attack followed a warning from Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, who had urged people at the airport to evacuate ahead of the planned offensive, as per the group-affiliated Al-Masirah TV channel.
The conflict in Yemen has been ongoing since the Houthis took control of the capital Sanaa and several other provinces in September 2014. A Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in March 2015 to support Yemen's internationally recognized government.
