Marco Rubio Denies US Involvement in Flavio Bolsonaro’s Departure from Brazil

Atlanta:US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has denied allegations that Washington assisted Flavio Bolsonaro in leaving Brazil and traveling to the United States. Rubio clarified that the US administration was not involved in facilitating the Brazilian politician's departure.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Rubio addressed the issue during a press conference in Atlanta, emphasizing that the US government did not play a direct role in Flavio Bolsonaro's travel arrangements. Rubio stated, "We didn't facilitate anything. We were not involved in any of the arrangements he made in terms of leaving."

Furthermore, Rubio explained that President Donald Trump had authorized Bolsonaro's entry into the United States, noting that Bolsonaro already held a valid visa. "The president made clear that if he arrived in the United States at a port of entry, that he would be paroled into the country, and he was," Rubio added.

Flavio Bolsonaro, the son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, left Brazil after losing the presidential runoff to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Despite the loss, Bolsonaro has alleged electoral fraud without evidence and plans to lead the opposition from Florida.
