Israeli Army and Settlers’ Attacks Surge in Occupied West Bank in October

Ramallah:The occupied West Bank experienced a significant increase in attacks from Israeli forces and settlers in October, with reported incidents rising by 52.8% compared to the previous month. The Palestinian government body, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, noted a total of 3,133 attacks during this period.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the commission's monthly report detailed that the Israeli army conducted 1,764 attacks, while settlers were responsible for 1,369 assaults. This marked a 111.6% increase in attacks by settlers from September, when 647 incidents were recorded.

The nature of these attacks varied, including shootings, physical assaults against Palestinians, and damage to property and agricultural land. Additional incidents involved the burning of trees and vehicles, seizure of property, road closures, and restrictions on Palestinians accessing their land.

The report emerges amid heightened military operations and settler violence across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, following the onset of Israel's war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023. This period has also seen increased raids, movement restrictions, land seizures, forced displacement of Palestinian communities, and the expansion of illegal settlements and outposts.
