AIPAC to Spend $233 Million Targeting Critics of Netanyahu in US Midterms

Washington:US Senator Bernie Sanders has raised concerns over the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) planning to allocate $233 million to oppose candidates critical of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming congressional midterm elections.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sanders announced on the social media platform X that AIPAC aims to use the funds against candidates who challenge Netanyahu's administration. He highlighted the recent Michigan primary where AIPAC spent $33 million in an unsuccessful attempt to defeat Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who opposes unconditional US military aid for Israel and has criticized Netanyahu's policies in Gaza and the West Bank.

Sanders emphasized his stance by declaring, "NO MORE U.S. MILITARY AID FOR ISRAEL."

As the November 3 congressional midterms approach, polls indicate a Democratic advantage in both the House of Representatives and potentially the Senate. Many Democrats have adopted a more critical position towards Netanyahu's government, reflecting a shift in US public opinion, particularly regarding the situation in Gaza and broader Middle East peace efforts.
