Aleppo: The Aleppo internal security chief conducted a field visit to Ayn al-Arab, as preparations for implementing a ceasefire and phased integration agreement between the Syrian government and YPG/SDF move forward.
According to Anadolu Agency, Col. Mohammad Abdel Ghani visited Ayn al-Arab in the eastern Aleppo countryside to facilitate the planned entry of internal security forces into the city as part of an agreed security deployment plan. During the visit, a meeting was held with SDF leaders to discuss mechanisms for the entry of internal security forces.
The visit aims to bolster security and ensure law and order in Ayn al-Arab. In a video published by the same outlet, Abdel Ghani addressed residents and forces, reassuring the Kurdish community of the state's intentions. He emphasized that the state does not seek military dominance but aims to build a state governed by law and discipline.
Abdel Ghani acknowledged the injustices faced by the Kurdish community and expressed a commitment to lifting these injustices for all Syrians. He highlighted the government's objective to build a unified Syria governed by law.
The visit coincides with preparations to implement agreements with the SDF, which outline security, administrative, and military steps in northeastern Syria. Syria's Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa announced that the agreement would take effect on Monday, with new security directors assuming their duties.
Under the agreement, SDF members will be integrated into military brigades under the Defense Ministry. The accord includes a ceasefire, phased integration of military and administrative bodies, and the establishment of security forces in city centers to reinforce stability.
The Syrian Army's operation against the SDF began in January, reclaiming territories west of the Euphrates River and expanding eastward with tribal forces' participation. This led to most territories previously occupied by the group coming under government control.
