Algiers: Algeria announced on Thursday its decision to sever diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, citing the exhaustion of "all means" to maintain their bilateral ties.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Algerian Foreign Ministry issued a statement via the official Algeria Press Service (APS), expressing that Algiers had shown 'a high degree of restraint' and 'a strong sense of responsibility' in response to what it described as increasingly 'provocative or hostile actions' by the UAE. The ministry emphasized that Algeria had made significant efforts to uphold the principles governing international relations, urging the UAE to recognize and rectify its 'regrettable and unjustified conduct.'

The statement further elaborated that despite multiple warnings, the UAE's actions had escalated to a level deemed unacceptable and intolerable between sovereign states, necessitating a formal response. Faced with the persistent nature of these actions, Algeria concluded that severing diplomatic relations was the only viable option left to preserve its national interests.

The Algerian government confirmed that the UAE ambassador was officially informed of the decision during a meeting at the ministry in Algiers on Thursday. The ambassador was granted a 48-hour period to comply with the directive.

As of now, there has been no official response from the UAE regarding Algeria's decision to end diplomatic ties.
