Ankara: Trkiye has expressed concern to the Iranian envoy following an incident involving a ballistic munition fired from Iran and directed toward Turkish airspace. The Iranian envoy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Ankara to address the matter.
According to Anadolu Agency, Ambassador Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh was officially informed of Trkiye's concern and strong protest regarding the incident. This development highlights the ongoing tensions between the two nations over security issues.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also addressed the situation by communicating directly with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi. Fidan emphasized the need to avoid actions that could escalate the conflict, as reported by sources within the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The missile, which originated from Iran, was intercepted and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense units stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Turkish National Defense Ministry stated on NSosyal, Turkey's social media platform, that the projectile was detected after traversing Iraq and Syria, and subsequently engaged by air defenses.
