Asian Nations Rally Against Ongoing Gaza Conflict as Israeli Actions Enter Third Year

Islamabad: Thousands of people took to the streets across Pakistan and other Asian countries to express solidarity with Palestinians on the second anniversary of Israel's ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has resulted in over 67,000 casualties, predominantly affecting women and children.

According to Anadolu Agency, in Pakistan, a series of demonstrations were held in major cities, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, Multan, and Mardan, urging the international community to intervene and halt the violence in Gaza. Students and activists displayed banners and waved Palestinian flags, gathering outside educational institutions and press clubs to show their support.

In Manila, Philippines, activists and human rights groups organized a protest, calling for an immediate end to the conflict. Marching towards the US embassy, protesters faced riot police while chanting slogans and carrying placards denouncing the US's role in the conflict. They also voiced support for the Global Sumud Flotilla activists detained by Israeli forces as they attempted to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Meanwhile, in Taipei, a vigil was held at Liberty Square to remember Palestinians who lost their lives in the conflict, including journalists and children. Participants urged Taiwan's government to adhere to human rights principles and avoid any involvement in the Gaza conflict. The Taiwan Alliance for a Free Palestine also criticized the involvement of Taiwanese companies in the conflict, releasing a report on alleged commercial ties supporting Israel's military efforts.

In Bangladesh, the media organization Drik hosted a cultural protest in Dhaka, featuring music, poetry, and performances to express opposition to Zionism and solidarity with Palestinians. The event highlighted the suffering of Gaza's children due to ongoing attacks.

Japan's Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya called for Israel to suspend unilateral actions and emphasized the need for a ceasefire, hostage release, and humanitarian aid. Japan also saw a rally where protesters attempted to reach the Israeli Embassy in Tokyo, advocating for Palestinian freedom.

Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed sorrow over the global community's inability to prevent the violence in Gaza, criticizing international bodies for their inaction and calling for decisive measures to end the oppression.
