Dammam:One person was killed and eight others were injured following an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, late Wednesday, as reported by the country's civil aviation authority.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed that the injured individuals were immediately transported to the hospital, with their injuries ranging from minor to severe. The attack also resulted in material damage, and authorities are continuing to assess the situation, with further updates expected.
The nature of the attack has not been specified by the authority. In a related incident earlier in the day, Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry reported that two people were killed and two others injured due to falling debris after air defenses intercepted a drone targeting an Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province. Although the debris caused a fire in a contractor's vehicle, operations at the oil field were not affected.
Additionally, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had intercepted and destroyed five drones that were launched toward the kingdom, including in the Eastern Province and the Medina region. This attack comes in the context of increasing hostilities between Yemen's Houthi group and the Saudi-led coalition, which have included attacks on Saudi airports and energy facilities.
