Avalanche Claims Lives of Three in Gilgit Baltistan

Abu dhabi: Three people, including a Pakistani army officer, a soldier, and a civilian, were killed on Saturday in an avalanche in the northern region of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan's military reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, the avalanche occurred during a snow clearance operation. The operation involved the use of heavy machinery aimed at opening Burzil Pass to facilitate the operational movement of forces in the area.

The operation was led by Captain Asmad Gulfam and was abruptly halted when the avalanche struck, trapping the officer, two soldiers, and a civilian machine operator. The military statement confirmed that three individuals died as a result of the avalanche.
