Manama: Bahrain announced it has intercepted and destroyed 242 drones and 141 missiles since the commencement of Iranian attacks on its territory. This development is part of a broader regional conflict that has seen an increase in hostilities, especially following joint attacks by Israel and the US on Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bahrain's air defense systems have been actively engaged in countering these attacks, which continue to occur in waves. The Bahraini army shared these developments on the social media platform X, underscoring the ongoing threats to the nation's airspace.

Tensions in the region have surged since February 28, when Israel and the US initiated joint military actions against Iran. These operations have resulted in significant casualties, including the death of Iran's then-Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, with more than 1,200 fatalities reported.

In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting several nations, including Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries home to US military bases. These retaliatory strikes have led to further casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation sectors.
