Beijing: China on Wednesday had "solemn representations" with South Korea because of anti-China protests in popular tourist areas in Seoul, according to the state-run Global Times newspaper. The Chinese Embassy expressed concerns regarding recent demonstrations in areas frequently visited by Chinese tourists, such as Myeong-dong.

According to Anadolu Agency, Beijing has urged Seoul to implement measures to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals, highlighting the potential for radical actions by certain individuals. In response, the embassy recommended that Chinese nationals residing in or visiting South Korea should take additional safety precautions.

Chinese Ambassador Dai Bing noted that Beijing-Seoul relations are presently at a critical juncture. This follows a recent phone discussion between Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Jae Myung during a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the Foreign Language Newspapers Association of Korea.
