Girne:The body of another passenger has been recovered in ongoing search efforts following the sinking of a passenger ship off the coast of Girne (Kyrenia) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
According to Anadolu Agency, the TRNC Prime Ministry confirmed the recovery of the body, as search and rescue operations continue. Authorities are now working on identifying the victim.
The sinking has led to a death toll of 25, with three individuals still reported missing. The incident involved the high-speed passenger ship Filo Jet, which was traveling between Kyrenia Port in the TRNC and Tasucu Port in Mersin, Turkey. The vessel began taking on water shortly after departing from Kyrenia and sank while attempting to return to the port.
