Ankara: The ceasefire agreement in Gaza is an important step toward establishing lasting peace in the region, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said on Thursday. "We hope that this development will be the beginning of a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace and will ultimately contribute to the goal of a two-state solution," ministry spokesperson Zeki Akturk told a weekly press briefing in Ankara.

According to Anadolu Agency, ministry sources addressed Turkey's potential participation in the Gaza task force, stating that with experience from previous peace missions, the Turkish Armed Forces are prepared to undertake tasks assigned within the framework of international law for peace establishment and maintenance. Work is being carried out in coordination with relevant state institutions.

Regarding the Syrian situation, Turkey remains committed to supporting the principle of one state and one army. The sources noted the Syrian government's ongoing efforts to restructure its institutions, aiming to enhance stability and security by eliminating terrorism. The integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian army is seen as critical, and Turkey is coordinating closely with counterparts on this process.
